The villages of Gazakh uyezd (Qafqaz calendar, 1917)

Gazakh (Qazakh, Kazakh) is the area and also the city on the north-west of Azerbaijan, one of the distinctive centers of the country. The district centre, the city of Gazakh was mentioned in written sources in VII century. Gazakh is a homeland of talented Azeri poets, scientists, artists and generals. Here are the ancient sites of antique humans, Albanian churches, mosques, medieval towers and bridges. Avey reserve, forests of Garayazy, grotto and spring Damjily, Mount Geyazan represent its fascinated nature. Local breed of Dilboz horses are specially famous. Gazakh is also popular as one of the very ancient carpet-weaving centres. Local character of folk music and national cuisine is connected to natural circumstance of this territory. Gazakh is the Folklore capital of Azerbaijan. Every inch of this glorious land is a living history.
